A teenager was injured Sunday evening in a boating incident at Cherry Creek Reservoir in Arapahoe County, according to Colorado Parks and Wildlife.
The unidentified teenager was tubing in the reservoir when he was run over by a boat at about 6 p.m. Sunday, Colorado Parks and Wildlife spokesperson Kara Van Hoose said.
The boat, filled with the teenager’s friends and family, was towing the boy on the tube when it ran him over, Van Hoose said.
Van Hoose said both of the teenager’s legs were severely slashed by the boat’s propeller, and he was brought to shore by two personal watercraft.
Park rangers applied tourniquets to both of his legs, she said. The teenager was conscious and breathing when paramedics took him to the hospital.
He is expected to survive, Van Hoose said. No other updates on his condition were available Monday.
It’s unknown if charges will be filed at this time, and the incident remains under investigation, Van Hoose said.
