UPDATED:

One person was killed and two others were injured after a shooting broke out during a party at an east Lakewood apartment complex early Wednesday morning.

Lakewood police responded to a shooting at Windrift Apartments at 1490 S. Reed St. at 1:20 a.m., spokesperson John Romero said.

One man was found dead in the parking lot, and a man and woman with gunshot wounds were taken to the hospital and are expected to survive.

Police were called to the same apartment earlier in the night for a “disturbance,” but the people involved were already gone when officers arrived, Lakewood officials said.

Witnesses told police there was a family party at the apartment. Multiple shooters were involved, causing damage to inside and outside of the apartment, agency officials said.

Lakewood police are looking for suspects and no one has been arrested, but investigators do not believe there is a threat to the public, Romero said.

Anyone with information about the case can contact the Lakewood Police Department at 303-980-7300.
