More than 700 flights headed in and out of Denver International Airport on Wednesday were delayed amid afternoon thunderstorms.

A ground delay that caused average delays of 1 hour and 21 minutes Wednesday afternoon was lifted as of 7 p.m., but airlines still reported 722 delays and 11 canceled flights, according to Flight Aware.

Flood threat alert issued for metro Denver, Front Range

Southwest delayed the most flights Wednesday at 237, followed by 232 from United and 144 from SkyWest.

United canceled six flights, SkyWest canceled three and Southwest canceled two, according to FlightAware.
